Photo An Hour || 22.09.2017

I haven’t participated in photo-an-hour since January, since pre-dog times and I’ve kind of missed it.

So since I’m back to blogging a little more, it seems fitting to get right back into photo-an-hour. And get back into it, I did. I went all out. I got up early! I ran errands, I did something fun, I took a photo of a cuppa, the sky and a book – those photo-an-hour classics – and I still couldn’t manage to end on an even number. Sigh.

8AM

Dog: Baasjes! Fear not! I have brought you Nigel. I distinctly remember you saying that you wanted me to wake you at 7AM by throwing Nigel at you.

We can play now, right?

Baasjes: P*** off, Dog.

And go make me a cup of tea.

9AM

If you don’t take a photo of your cuppa, does photo-an-hour even happen?

10AM

Squeezing in some quality time with Kris, minus Dog, whilst we run errands in town.. for dog.

But, trains. Everyone likes trains, right?

11AM

Still in town and stopping to admire the war memorial conveniently at 11AM.

Coincidence? I think not.

12AM

Well, close enough.

It’s rather pleasing to photograph a clock when you’re doing photo-an-hour.

1PM

Adulting done, it’s time to go for a walk.

It wasn’t anywhere special, but it was a new-to-us route.

2PM

An hour in and we are slowly realising we were far too optimistic about how long it would take to walk 7.5km.

Dog however, shows no signs of stopping.

3PM

Still walking and enjoying the farm life.

4PM

Just sneaking a photo of all these mushrooms on someones lawn and hoping no-one sees me through the kitchen window.

5PM

The final stretch of the walk. Just another kilometre through the houses and down the very wet and muddy lane, then it’s back on the bikes and home to rest.

6PM

A well-earned rest for Dog.

This is the longest walk she’s been on and she ploughed on like the champ she is. Then she died quietly in front of the fridge for a couple of hours.

7PM

Whilst Dog sleeps and Kris games. I climb into last nights PJs and get stuck into my book.

That’s just how I like my Saturday evening. And every other evening of the week.

8PM

We’ll end on the view from my living room window.

And that’s Saturday, done and dusted. It’s so satisfying to complete a photo an hour. I’m already looking forward to next month. What did you get up to on Saturday?

Photo An Hour || 28.01.17

It has been an age, and more, since a good old photo-an-hour has graced this blog. A bit of searching tells me that the last one was May last year, which I find quite shocking as they have always been one of my favourite types of posts to put together.

This year, we are bringing photo-an-hour back.

And we are starting off on rocky ground, with less-than-great photos and a whole chunk of the afternoon hours being completely left out. Let’s call this a warm up month and hope that February will be more successful.

Here’s 28.01.17, by the hour. Approximately.

9AM

This was my start as you mean to go on photo. Instead of a cuppa, I thought we would begin the day with a view from the living room window and this dude sunning himself in the morning sunlight. Spoiler alert: it was damn cold.

10AM

By ten o’clock we were still in bed so we are back to regular photo-an-hour scheduled photographing with a cuppa and a couple of chapters of my book before I get in the shower.

11AM

Shower down, hair dried, now it is time for breakfast!

For the 11am photo it was a choice between a bowl of porridge or some blue skies. Blue skies won. Even if they were almost completely obscured by the grey clouds floating by.

I can happily report that said grey clouds continued to move on and it was dry and sunny all day.

12PM

I quite enjoy public transport, but I’m not one to turn down a free lift, especially when I get to sit in the back and read whilst Kris makes small talk to the driver. Even if I have to try and take a sneaky photo in the back of the car without anyone noticing.

Knees and another book photo it is.

1PM to 4PM

Now seems like a good a time as any to tell you what we have been up to every weekend for the last five weeks: we have been spending every weekend getting to know our newest family member to be.

This weekend was extra special as it was time to decide which puppy we preferred, but that was far too difficult to narrow down any further than one of the black and white ones. Next weekend is all about the big reveal and then come February 17th, we will be welcoming our four-legged friend into the family.

A full introductory post will, of course, be following that with far too many puppy photos.

5PM

Two lifts in one day makes a change from taking the train all the time and kind of makes me wish I had a car. It is always nice to get home before dark, instead of standing out in the cold and dark waiting for the train. Still, not enough to want to actually buy a car though, I like the train too much for that.

6PM

I was so ready to tuck into out spaghetti and veggie balls after a long afternoon without any lunch.

Today’s fact of the day: the IKEA veggie balls are pretty tasty, vegan and cheap.

7PM

Ending a busy Sunday under my new blanket with, predictably, the same book I was reading earlier. This continued on for a few hours whilst Kris started puppy-proofing all the cables under his desk. After that, I took my book to bed and only regretted staying up until 2:30am a little bit come Monday morning.

And that’s it, definitely not a bad Sunday, I mean, how can it be when puppies are involved. How was everyone else’s weekend?

Life || Photo An Hour May

life as unusuals blog photo an hour may

Unlike last month where I almost missed the link up, I signed up for the reminder email instead! So here it is, Saturday by the hour!

It was gloriously sunny, I got a shit-load done and I cycled my arse to a callus, it was a damn good day. I even had half a tub of ice cream for dessert.

10AM

Starting the day by reading those last ten pages of Firefight by Brandon Sanderson since I fell asleep in it the night before. Not a bad start to a Saturday with a cup of mint tea.

11AM

Breakfast time, a punnet of strawberries and three bananas, that’ll do just nicely.

12PM

The 30km bike ride begins. We picked ourselves up some cycling computers so, between ourselves, we’ve now turned into those noobs who compare their ride time and cadence with each other.

1PM

Well, not technically a 1PM photo, but I did take it some where in the hour. From home we headed into town to visit a new shop we’d found online (the internet told me they sold a brand of chocolate I like. Spoiler alert: they didn’t), then we went by the library and then off to work. Somewhere in the middle of that, we cycled down these cobbles.

2PM

Sometimes, all you’ve get left is your face as an option for the hourly photo. So it’s a face photo. Plus, Pete wasn’t about at work so I had to make do.

3PM

From work to the British Store. So many cobbles, so much wind but some pretty darn gorgeous scenery that makes up for all that.

4PM

A quick break before heading home with all our British goodies.

5PM

The three hours of cycling was totally worth it to get my hands on some more Almond Dream ice cream. As well as some gravy, crumpets, a selection of Linda McCartney’s veggie range to try, some oh-so-British bread and peas. It was a good day for my British soul.

And that’s another Saturday gone by in a sunny flash. Here’s to more of these mid-twenties, sunny Saturdays!

Linking up with Jane and Louisa as always!
