Blog-wise, last week was a bit of a failure. Life-wise, it was a big success. This week was just average and I’m happy with that, I need a slow week.
I spent the entirety of last week cleaning my house which I lamented about in this weeks Wonderful Wednesday post. Not just a once round with the hoover, but a clean the toilet, dust the top of the cupboards and wash the floor kind of clean. “A big clean”, that’s what I’m calling it now, last week though, it was more “this was a stupid idea and I have to eat lunch on the floor because the oven is on the sofa”. I even cleaned my extractor fan, which in hindsight, I don’t think I ever want to do that again and don’t recommend any one else does it either. To say it was absolutely disgusting, is an understatement. Since the days were filled with nothing but cleaning, sorting and then having to tidy up after the cleaning, I was all out of energy to do anything in my free time so nothing happened around these parts.
I didn’t even bake along with batter week! I just couldn’t be bothered.
Since I didn’t bother putting last week’s daily photos together, I’m going to combine them with this week’s. It’s only 14 photos, so not too long.
Let it be noted that I can hardly remember which photos go with which days, as a few were taken on the same day because I was cheating a bit. So therefore, said captions may or may not be an accurate representation of the day.
I was still in the UK when I took this photo, it was a Friday and since it was a day non-stop rain I decided to spend the day in the hotel enjoying my books. I didn’t read all of these, I was mostly enjoying The Red Knight which is a big ol’ book and best enjoyed when I can sit down for a good few hours to read.
Our last day in the UK! We thought we might enjoy a day in London before getting the Eurostar home, but really, we just walked to Whole Foods in Soho, bought some fake bacon and vegan cupcakes, and then walked back to St. Pancras to dilly dally about until the train. London is just not my jam. So much so, I didn’t even bother to snap a daily photo as we walked to Whole Foods.
Instead, you’ve got peppermint tea, the same book as yesterday and my feet.
Oh that golden morning light, I love it. Since the days are starting a little later now, I am actually up in time to see the sunrise every now and then. Shame it insists on burning my retinas every time I open my eyes in the morning though. Still, it’s all golden and pretty and I like it.
The moon! I don’t know, it just looked nice on a Monday morning.
This was the day All The Cleaning began, everything else fizzled out and all I cared about was cleaning the hair out of the plug hole.
We’ve been graced with some lovely sunny mornings this week!
Another day, another pretty flower and another blue sky!
For Thursday and Friday this week Kris was at another conference. This time though, it was just in town so instead of our usual morning bike ride we opted for a morning walk instead.
Here’s some pretty clouds to celebrate that!
On Friday my level of cleaning reached that box that was never unpacked when we moved in four years ago. Low and beyond, it’s Kerri’s childhood teddy bears!
The dude at the back looks pretty good for being 25 years old, the other, not so much. He’s been through the wars and has fell apart from the middle a few times, which younger-me fixed with some “sewing” and when that failed, superglue. His bow tie isn’t looking all that snazzy either. Poor guy.
It’s finally the weekend and with Kris’ help the house is starting to look tidy again after all the cleaning.
This photo is really from tomorrow but it looks better than a photo of me sitting on the sofa in my PJs, eating bourbons (#vegan), reading a book and occasionally enquiring out loud whether Kris is going to make my another cup of tea or if he would like an update on whether it’s still raining outside.
Monday’s thought of the day: I’ve hardly seen any poppies this year.
I had planned for today’s photo to be from my little walk into town but I spent most of the afternoon in bed with a migraine so that didn’t happen. I did get a little of my book read though so it wasn’t all bad. Except the nausea and sickness, I didn’t like that.
All the monies!
OK, maybe €30 worth, but still, not bad for just odd cash that we’ve still got lying around from the trips we’ve taken. I did a bit of Google-Fu and found that there’s a few websites where you can send your leftover currency to so I spent a bit of time today working out what money we’ve got and what can be sent away for exchange. I can’t sent everything but it’s better than nothing. I might wait until we’re in the UK in December to send it though, since it’s going to the UK anyway and that’ll save me some money on the cost of the shipping.
Finishing this week’s daily photos with a tasty dinner of pie, taters and veggies. With gravy, of course.
Phew! What a fortnight. That’s it for another round of daily photos! Here’s to the weekend!
