It feels like in the last couple of months we haven’t been able to do anything or go anywhere because the weather has just been so crap. Worst than that, was predictions of shitty weather and then deciding to stay in just for it to not rain at all. Not even a little bit.
After two weekends of being tricked by the weather predictor that is Google Weather, we decided to just go out and if we got wet, so be it. At least I can put my rain coat to use on the weekend, instead of just the weekdays. And since we haven’t been doing so great at our unofficial goal of completing my A to Z of Belgium by the end of the year, we figured it was time to tackle the letter D.
So, D is for Dinant this time. A little town down in Wallonia that sits on the River Meuse. We headed down by train in about two hours and spent the afternoon wandering about and pretending that that wasn’t a drop of rain that just feel on my sleeve. We climbed up 400 steps to the citadel to get some gorgeous views of the town and then we rode the cable car back down. In hindsight, it would have made more sense to it the other way around, but you gotta work those muscles to get buns of steal! Or something.
A couple of hours was plenty of time to wander about, and then it was time to ride the train back home again. On the plus side, I did get through an entire book with all the train travel.
I wish it was a nice sunny day, I think this place would look so nice in the sunshine. I’m also thinking that I definitely won’t be completing the whole alphabet before the end of the year.
