As it’s the last photo an hour of the year, I went all out. I started at midnight, since I was awake, although I promptly fell asleep after starting, then I crossed the Atlantic ocean and got to re-do about seven hours, before falling asleep at a very respectable 7pm. New York time. Not Belgium time, that was more like 1am. Although I can’t be sure, all this time change has confused me. That’s why it’s 5am and I’m putting together this blog post.
I almost didn’t write this blog post up, because the photos are kind of crap. Being stuck indoors, and worse, being stuck in a plane, for eight hours, does not make for good (or interesting) photos. But, I’m hoping some of the photos redeem themselves, and there is a photo of pizza, so there’s that.
12AM :: Cosy-ing up on the sofa, replying to comments when I should be finishing the last of my packing.
1AM :: We finally finished packing for our trip. I was even organised enough to get out the clothes I want to wear on the plane. This would be a life-win, if it wasn’t one in the morning.
2AM :: Time to sleep! No Chopster to keep us company tonight, he’s having his own little holiday at a friend’s house whilst we’re away.
6AM :: Back up, time for some breakfast–mango and banana smoothie, if you’re interested–and then we’re off to the train station. Shocking news: We’re not running late.
7AM :: Choo choo! To the airport we go!
8AM :: With all this warm weather and having to decorations of our own, we sort of forgot about the holidays, but the airport was ready to remind us with many, many Christmas trees.
9AM :: An airport sunrise. I could watch these all the time, except it’s kind of pricey to get to the airport.
10AM :: A plane selfie. What else could you use for your stuck on a plane for eight hours photo.
And so it begins: hours and hours of photos from the same place without trying to look like I’m taking photos of other people trying to go about their business.
11AM :: Kris’s armadillo jumper on the plane.
12PM :: Lunch on the plane. We went for the fruit platter, since there was no specific vegan option, it was alright, except the part where it appeared to have come out of a freezer and lead to fruit-induced brain freeze.
1PM :: Film on the plane. After having a nap, reading my book, napping again, staring into nothing and then going through every menu on the screen, I settled on watching Divergent.
2PM :: Windows on the plane. People on the plane.
3PM :: Who Wants To Be A Millionaire on the plane. Kris and I won a million. I tried to take a photo to prove it but I wasn’t quick enough. Turns out, you don’t actually win a million though. It was all a lie.
4PM :: Another film on the plane. Ratatouille, this time.
5PM :: Seats on the plane.
1PM :: Time for a time change and another airport Christmas tree.
2PM :: It only took us an hour to get through the airport and to the train station. Now to wait for our New York City bound train!
3PM :: A little Times Square teaser, trying to fit as much America in one photo as possible. Yellow cab: check. Tall buildings: check. Hanging traffic lights: check. Huge billboards: check. A boat-load of people: check.
4PM :: Heading to our BnB for the night and getting our first glimpse of the skyline. Not too shabby at all.
5PM :: Pizza time! All the veggies and no cheese from Dominos. Nom nom nom.
6PM :: Must. Stay. Awake.
7PM :: Screw it. Time to sleep.
And that was Saturday! Now it’s time to get up and go check out some dinosaurs!
