Photo An Hour || Saturday Versus Sunday

In my opinion, this is one of my more genius blog ideas. It’s no secret that I’m a bit of a photo-an-hour post fanatic – yup, I’ve crossed the line into fanatic – but when I heard that this months photo-an-hour link up with Jane and Louisa was on a Sunday, I fell hard in to thinking dude, my Sunday’s equal boring. I don’t even get dressed if I can help it, which I usually can.

So, I hatched a plan, I would take my photo-an-hour photos on Saturday and pretend it was Sunday. OK, I probably would have admitted it was Saturday at the end, but I was all prepared to lie my way out of five photos of tea, one photo of dinner and another five photos of Pork Chop.

But! Then I had an idea. Oh yes I did. Photo-an-Hour: Saturday Versus Sunday!

Doesn’t that sound great? Doesn’t that sound like a jaw dropping, on the edge of your seat kind of read? I thought so too.

6am.

Saturday: Out the house and walking to the train station. Who needs buses at 6am? I do.

Sunday: Still Zzzzzz-ing

7am.

Saturday: Sunrise. I enjoy the occasional sunrise. Occasional being key in that enjoyment.

Sunday: Zzzzzz-ing and drooling

8am.

Saturday: Field. Green. Mud. Green. Sun.

Sunday: I’m awake! Yup, I’m awake! Look sunshine!

Sunday: I was just resting my eyes in the last photo. Time for tea.

11am.

Saturday: Much bicycles. Much Netherlands feels.

Sunday: Egg & Soldiers, be still my beating stomach.

12pm.

Saturday: Wandering around the Keukenhof Gardens, enjoying the sunshine and flowers, before the crêpe incident.

Sunday: Preparing a winter casserole in springtime because #yolo.

1pm.

Saturday: Watching people, watching tulips. It’s not often that I willingly include people in my photos, but this seemed like a nice setting.

Sunday: Blog time. Importing and choosing photos. Oh the life of a blogger.

2pm.

Saturday: More… tulips.

Sunday: Just to add some depth and emotion to the photo of me still faffing about with tulips, I added a cup of tea.

3pm.

Saturday: We finished looking around the gardens, the Rent-A-Bike queue was too long, so we went for a hike in the woods near by.

Sunday: Oh, more tulips. How predictable of me.

4pm.

Saturday: Still hiking. Still taking photos of moss and trees.

Sunday: Socks. Because, you’ve got to wash your socks at some point on the weekend.

5pm.

Saturday: Heading home and the “oh crap I totally forgot to take a photo, quickly take a photo of the house on the side of the road whilst the bus has stopped at the traffic lights” photo.

Sunday: Spicing things up on a Sunday and moving to the sofa to continue blogging.

6pm.

Saturday: A quick stop for food before getting on the next train.

Sunday: Time for a run!

7pm.

Saturday: Can you have too many trains for a Saturday?

Sunday: The post-run shower is a good shower.

8pm.

Saturday: After 6 hours of travelling and 6 trains later, we are rolling into home.

Sunday: More tea and no photo of my laptop even though I am clearly still using it.

9pm.

Saturday: Pyjama time! From Saturday evening until Monday morning.

Sunday: Calling home, getting some bad news and being reminded that expat life isn’t all tulips and tea.

life as unusuals photo an hour a day in the life of me saturday versus sunday lifestyle blog

10pm.

Saturday: A very tasty late night snack. Snacks always taste better late at night.

Sunday: Snacks for Pork Chop, energising him for his nightly marathon.

11pm.

Saturday: Tea before bed. Always.

Sunday: Do you like my IKEA bedding?

And that’s the weekend. I think I’m going to get a late night snack now. What does a Saturday Versus Sunday in your life look like?

Life || Highlights And Lowlights Of The Week

life as unusuals highlights and lowlights of the week

Highlights of the week

  • Making it to week three of our running app and not dying – also the sunset I get to watch is nothing to scoff at.
  • Finishing work a couple of days early and heading home after lunch. Work win.
  • Having a little blog epiphany and feeling refreshed about the little space. It must be all the sunshine.
  • Finishing another audiobook – The Girl On The Train if you’re wondering and looking close to finishing The Complete Sherlock Holmes Collection too!
  • Having to pop into town for work, arriving early and having half an hour to wander around the botanical gardens and enjoy the spring.
  • The tulips. All the tulips from last Saturday!
  • Watching Pork Chop discover that he can climb the blinds.
  • Going to see more flowers with a trip to the Royal Greenhouses Of Laeken.
  • Another Monday date night, involving pizza.
  • Inventing a recipe!
  • Eating lunch outside in the sunshine!

Lowlights of the week

  • Planning things for work and forgetting a step, so completely ruining all my plans. Work fail.
  • Having meetings to make plans, just to have less plans and be more confused afterwards.
  • Missing out on a chance to ride a tandem bike.
  • Many cooking fails – not realising that the chicken needed marinating, or that the cooking time for the potato bake was two hours and not one.
  • Getting the news that my Nan passed away last Friday. After suffering a stroke over two years ago and deteriorating ever since, it was for the best in the end. But still a sad time.

Photo Snapshots || Springtime In Leuven

life as unusuals springtime in leuven

Sometimes I have photos that I just want to share. Sometimes they are photos from out and about, sometimes from places we’ve been to, sometimes from our travels. But for the most part I don’t share them because they’ve either got no context – the out and about photos – or I’ve already wrote a blog post about the place or travels and shared some photos already. So I just don’t share them.

But I still like the photos and I still want to share them. So I’m going to start sharing them.

I’ve done a few posts under the Snapshots title before, which have been more photos and less text, but I always forget about it as a option for a post. In some ways I feel like they aren’t story-like enough for my blog. Like they don’t fit the theme of my blog – despite being some of my favourite photos.

But, I had a bit of a blogging epiphany and decided that Snapshots are the way I want to go. When I’ve got photos I want to share with not a lot of words to go with them, Snapshots it is.

So, I’m going to start a series. As and when I feel like it, not a weekly feature, just when I want to. The inspiration coming from two of my favourite bloggers: Rachael and Dannielle, for their Snapshots and Photography Friday blog posts.

The posts will probably be centred around a theme, place, day, but for the most part, I just want to share some photos that I’ve taken that I like, without the added effort of writing some text too. Yup, sometimes I enjoy lazy blogging.

So, for the first post in the unofficial re-series of Snapshots, here’s some photos from Leuven in Springtime!

I’m really excited about this series, even if it was already kind of a thing, but I’ve re-found my excitement. How’s spring down your neck of the woods?
