Photo Snapshots || Cemetery Walks

Life as unusuals local exploring Leuven cemetery belgium

Last Sunday was beautifully sunny (albeit, frightfully cold) so we decided to take a little walk. Still spending most of our time cooped up in the house we just decided on a whim to go out and enjoy some sunshine. We covered our unwashed hair in hats, took the nearest pair of shoes, left our teeth unbrushed and just walked. We decided to head down to the railway line because it’s a nice open area with fields, churches and lakes. When we were taking pictures for a previous outfit post we came across a cemetery and decided this was an ideal place to investigate. I took along my camera to practice more of my photo-taking and because I’m in love with it and actually enjoying taking photos more than I thought I could.

Cemeteries are fascinating places, it’s amazing just how old something can be. When you look at the dates on some of the headstones, you forget that those times existed and just looking at the different headstones and how detailed and large some of them are. It’s just quite impressive. I guess it might be considered weird, a friend of Kris’s asked him if ‘walking around a cemetery on a Sunday afternoon was our kind of fun’. yep.

To the pictures… I also edited some, if you can call changing them to B&W editing.

Photo Snapshots || Little Abandoned House

life as unusuals local adventure leuven belgium little abandoned house

These last few months we haven’t really been getting out of the house. It’s not good for us. We start to get under each others feet and the small space we are in gets even smaller. We have to take our relationship out-of-doors every now and them to let off some steam; a little freshness never fails to fix any stale air between us.

A few weeks back, whilst taking the bus to work, we saw what looked to be an abandoned house on the side of the road. We’ve been pretty fascinated with urban exploration for a while and are keen to look into this kind of adventuring. We took this little abandoned house as a sign and decided it would make a great excuse to get some fresh air.

It wasn’t as abandoned as we had hope. It was an old house but it had ben made into a mini art project and was part of a business estate. We still went for a look around and snapped a few photos.

What I Wore || Space Print

life as unusuals what I wore space print skirt

I’ve been excited to write this post for a while now, I just haven’t had the time.

First time I took these pictures we were at the Christmas Market in Aachen, and then I put the outfit on again a week later to take some more pictures. We had to rush the ones at the market as we were with friends and I’m still a little shy about this blogging stuff. I’m awkward at the best of time taking outfit pictures, let alone with 3 other friends. The second set we had little time as it gets dark so early at the moment.

This is where the point of this post begins. Maybe it comes across on here, possibly not yet, but I’m not the most sociable person. I’m not shy, I just dislike social scenes and generally being around lots of people. The more people the less social I get. Anyhow, for our trip to the market it was Kris and I, plus three friends. Don’t get me wrong I like two out of three of them and we do hang out from time to time. It’s just certain aspects of my life I prefer to do alone or with Kris. Travelling and going on mini adventures is one of those aspects.

When I go somewhere new I want to walk around, take in the scenery and snap a few pictures here and there. Most of all I want to do this at my own speed, go my own way and not worry if the other people are having a good time. Frankly, I don’t care – as long as I am having a good time; and Kris too. Going somewhere or doing something with your best friend (Kris is first my best friend and then my boyfriend) is different. We are in tune with each other, we can read each others signals and, something which I think is key to a relationship is, we are willing to compromise for each other. Kris says yes to walking for miles and miles and I say yes to frequent food and drink stops – compromise. When it is just the two of us we can sit in silence on the train, we don’t have to fill every second with talking and we go home when we are too cold and our feet hurt.

From what we saw of the Christmas market it was festive and had lots of stalls to check out. It was pretty cold and a little wet and that’s hard when you are a group. Everyone wants everyone to be happy and nobody wants to say it sucks. The day started off good and decline to a steady sucking by the time we got the train home. It would have been nice to have gone back before the end of the holidays but we didn’t get a chance – maybe next year. Just the two of us.

Well, I guess I’m just unsociable and group outings aren’t for me. Yet, with Kris, I would go anywhere with him and his company, he’s my partner in crime and no-one can compete with that. Ahh, mush.

Outfit Blurb

Isn’t this skirt from Moddolly amazing! It fits pretty snug with the elasticated waistband and I couldn’t resist pairing it with this patterned top. Again, this cardigan from Topshop, is my favourite. It’s a great colour, it’s warm and snug and, well, it’s just amazing. It goes so nicely with the top (I pretty much always wear this combination) and it matches some of the colours on the skirt too. I’m sure I am wearing too different pairs of shoes – my new Pull and Bear loafers and my go to brogues.

That’s all!
